Damascus Rural Wells Project

The rural areas of Damascus Governorate have experienced a severe water shortage for many years, prompting our engineering team to study possible solutions to address this crisis.

Wells play a vital role in meeting the needs of the population, as each well in every neighborhood provides water for approximately 150 families. With the daily per capita water share dropping from 30 liters to 5 liters due to malfunctions in some wells, the need for repairs has become urgent. These wells are not only crucial for providing drinking water but are also used for irrigating agricultural lands. Their shortage leads to crop damage and soil degradation, weakening food production.

Repairing the wells means securing clean and sustainable water sources, restoring the individual’s water allocation to its previous level. Operating a single well can serve more than 750 people. We have 19 wells serving more than 14,000 people, which strengthens water security in the region. The repair also contributes to revitalizing agricultural lands, increasing food production, reducing desertification, and protecting the environment from deterioration, thus addressing the challenges of water scarcity.
